Topics Discussed:

  1. Base Budget: As required in the Requin Base By-Laws, the following budget for 2017 was approved by the Executive Board.   11. Meeting Locations: The practice of holding one meeting per quarter at a location other than Baden PA will continue this year. March meeting will be in Canonsburg PA. June meeting will be in Columbiana OH. August meeting will be in Irwin PA. October meeting will be in Elwood City PA. December Christmas luncheon American Legion Baden PA on date to be determined. Other traveling meetings may take place in New Castle PA or near Route 28.
  12. Projects: Eagle Scout courts of honor, tour guides on Requin, loyalty pin program, Kap(ss)4Kid(ss) program, Eternal Patrol Scholarship donations, honor Holland Club inductees, adopt a WWII Vet program, and Memorial Day service onboard Requin.
  13. Advertising: Veterans Day notice in local newspapers.
  14. Parades: Carnegie on May 27 following memorial service onboard Requin, Sewickley and Coraopolis on May 28. Possible parades in Leetsdale or Canonsburg on July 4 and in Beaver on Veterans Day.
  15. Fund Raisers: Parades, candy sales, 40-40-20 raffle, Booster Club donations, small stores sales, and challenge coin sales will continue this year. Candy sales and additional raffles will support Kap(ss)4Kid(ss) and Eagle Scout programs unless seller designates otherwise.
  16. Sponsorships: The Base will continue to sponsor the USS Ohio, USS West Virginia, USS Pittsburgh and USS Pennsylvania.
  17. SVD Articles: Columns to be prepared by base officers and committee chairmen. Permanent articles to include new Booster Club members, birthdays for members and spouses, small stores.
  18. Committee Co-Chairmen: Holland Club (Bernie Sigler), Eagle Scouts (Vince Metz), Audit (Rick Elster), Navy Ball (Rick Elster), Nautilus Float (Jeff Simon).
